The company is structured around 3 Bunisess Units:

  • Retail

  • Service

It develops strategic partnerships with companies such as Leroy Merlin and various insurers on the B2B2C Service part, thus strengthening its presence and credibility in the market.

Benoît Gauffreteau, Purchasing and Pricing Manager on the Retail division, explains the challenges in his field in terms of pricing and the solutions he has implemented to better control his acquisition costs.

2. The challenges: optimization of acquisition investments (SEA) while maximizing our visibility

We contacted Price Observatory to meet specific needs related to the SEA paid acquisition, and in particular our acquisition costs, for which price is a crucial criterion.

Indeed, spending budget on paid acquisition on products that are poorly placed in terms of pricing is like throwing money down the drain.

"With the implementation of a competitive intelligence solution, one of our main objectives was to optimize our SEA acquisition costs while maximizing our visibility on Google Shopping."

To do this, we have implemented a strategy to correlate our prices with the Google Top Product Feed, in order to improve our positioning and ensure that our products are always visible to the right users, at the right time.

This strategy requires in-depth and reliable competitive intelligence on our leading Products (several tens of thousands) via API in order to correlate the prices of our products with our best-performing products in terms of acquisition and to adjust our acquisition costs according to these price data. We monitor our competitors' prices on a daily basis in our various markets.

The solution had to allow us above all to have reliable matchings, a very good matching rate as well, as well as an intuitive validation interface to meet our business specificities on many products (product originality, variable brands, etc.) because the spare parts sector is quite complex and heterogeneous. For this competitive intelligence, we also needed to have access to an API to allow us to inject data into our systems, in particular our SEA acquisition cost management system and thus closely monitor market developments.

"Thanks to this monitoring, we adjust our prices in real-time based on movements observed among our competitors across all our product categories."

3. Why Price Observatory? A high-performance, scalable solution and a transparent commercial relationship

Several criteria guided our decision. Price Observatory quickly stood out for its performance and ease of use, which allowed us to easily adopt and integrate it into our processes.

The data provided by Price Observatory is reliable and of very good quality, which is essential in our industry. We also greatly appreciated the transparency in the commercial relationship, particularly on proxy costs, which allowed us to adjust costs in a win-win logic.

In addition, the modularity of the interface gave us great flexibility, allowing us to add essential features for us to meet our needs precisely.

The good price-performance ratio finally contributed favourably to our decision.

4. Smooth deployment

Before Price Observatory, we used a different scrapping solution. The transition was very simple. The deployment was quick.

The custom features were also delivered quickly and were in line with our expectations.  We were also able to retrieve tens of thousands of existing matches from our old tool and integrate them back into Price Observatory without any problems. And above all, we have considerably increased our match rate. We were able to work in collaboration with Price Observatory's quality team to optimize the number of matches.

5. + 30% new matchings and a controlled pricing monitoring cost

We are very satisfied with this change of solution. As soon as it was integrated, we noticed a much improved quality feeling compared to our previous tools.

"The resulting matches are more accurate and reliable, and with a 30% higher rate of new matches, compared to our old solution, at a lower cost"
